We had been with AmFam for many years, and although it was over priced – we had a great relationship with that agent. When that agent retired, we no longer felt the loyalty to AmFam so we began shopping for another carrier. This agent contacted me after using an online service/survey – cheap auto insurance! Everything was pretty painless in switching, some over the phone, some online and we ended up saving about $100 a month (at first). After a few months, our premium went up unannounced by about $11 – we had no claims or accidents or tickets at this point and the explanation was it was an industry wide adjustment. A few months later it went up again, and then last month it went up again to the point were we were only saving about $30 from our AmFam premium. This time the explanation was vehicles are harder and most costly to repair and texting while driving has become an epidemic in AZ. We had no other issues with State Farm or Lecia Scaglione’s office, but we’ve since switched to Liberty Mutual and are saving about $100 a month again.
