Mariel got me health insurance once ACA passed. It is very good insurance. But my experience with Mariel before ACA was not a good one. I was dying and uninsured. She came to my house and told me there was not really an option for me but given my condition” I should purchase life insurance from her. This struck me as so callous and uncaring that we refused to even explore it. I felt she did not get the gravity of my situation and I feel she still does not- that it is about making a sale for her. I am grateful for the health insurance I have now but was deeply insulted by my first experience with her. We used her again because we did not know where else to turn.
