It has been challenging at times.
I have had insurance with Gary for almost 30 years. I began my coverage with him after I purchased my first car. Since that time I have added life insurance and homeowners coverage. I haven’t really had personal problems with Gary, but I believe that he really isn’t a hands-on agent any longer. I always deal with Pam in his office. We have had multiple problems with Pam in the past. When my husband was rear-ended, he contacted the State Farm 800 number because it was after hours. The following day he contacted our agent’s office and spoke to Pam. She told him that we would not be helped by State Farm because the other driver was at fault. Because of that attitude, my husband had to do the insurance run around and call multiple offices, set up appointments with other insurance adjusters, basically handle everything ourselves. To say the least I was extremely disappointed. I contacted Gary after this situation, and he got false information from Pam about how the situation was handled. I really didn’t appreciate the dishonesty. And I also didn’t appreciate the Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there” except when someone else is at fault. I’ll admit that I threatened to change agents but never followed through because it is just easier to stay with the status quo. We also have so many policies with him (4 cars, house and life) that it seems like a chore to change agents. Besides that one accident, however, we really haven’t had a lot of reasons to deal with him. We just send in the checks and the insurance continues.
