Overall, my experience with Jeff Valentine was ok to start but progressively got worse. I will be looking to switch my homeowners insurance when my policy is up for renewal.
I choose to work with Jeff Valentine, because I met him through my old job and he was very nice. I worked as a Leasing Consultant for an apartment complex office, and Jeff Valentine was our offices main insurance agent. He would bring us leasing consultants $10 visa gift cards for each referral that we gave and ended up using his as their renters insurance policy. I got to know him for over a year and ended up buying my first home with my fiancee. I choose to use him because I knew him, and I needed homeowners insurance and flood insurance quickly (it was required) before closing on our home. I did’t know of any other insurance agents and my manger told me she used him for her car insurance and recommended him too. He was able to get me signed up fast and the copy of my policy with the help of his assistant. He also helped me with getting flood insurance, so I felt super relieved about that. Sometimes I dealt with his assistant because he is a busy agent I guess. She usually answers his office phone and sends out most of the email correspondences. Although I was not dealing with Jeff Valentine directly all of the time (he passed a lot of the work to his assistant), I was still happy that everything was taken care of fast and I got my homeowners policy. He also gave me a $20 visa gift card for getting my insurance policy with him. Everything was fine and I had no problems up until a year later. My homeowners insurance policy ended up expiring and increased in price without warning. I never got phone calls, anything in the mail etc. When I went to email Jeff, his assistant responded to my emails which was a little annoying. I no longer work at the same job so I didn’t see him around at all anymore and he seems to not care about his customers much and prefers his assistant to follow up with people that have problems. I have been looking to cancel my policy but they refuse to backdate my policy so I would still end up owing my without coverage. I am not happy about this and my experience has went down dramatically. When my policy is up for renewal, I will deffinately be canceling asap and looking for better options/more caring agents. Just as an FYI: I have never had to file a home claim with my policy. It would have been better to receive a discount for not having any claims, or at least a follow up/warning before a price change in my policy.
