This agent inherited my account from the previous Allstate agent who I was with. I initially signed up with the previous agent because of how easy he was to get a hold of, and how polite he was to me. With Jim, I do get a response within a few days, but I’ve always gotten the sense that I was something of a burden.
Allstate was actually going to stop providing insurance for people with manufactured homes, and it didn’t seem that Jim had much incentive for keeping me with Allstate. I don’t have any accidents on my record, nor have I ever filed a claim for anything, and yet, I seem to pay more than I’d expect for a service that I’m unlikely to ever use.
My state mandates having car insurance, so even though I never expect to have to use it, I still have to pay what I think is high price for it. Even with my deductibles very high, it still seems to be a lot, for what I get. Likewise with my home insurance; at one point, I was actually paying for flood protection, and I live on top of a mountain. I expect that all insurance probably is as unimpressive, and it’s not specific to my agent, but if I found someone who even hinted that they cared about having my money, and charged me less for the basic insurance I have, I’d jump ship in a heartbeat.
You’d think there must be some company at there that enjoys getting what amounts to free, government mandated money from citizens. “
