I’ve had State Farm for years and I’ve always been quite happy with them. I’ve only had one claim in the last twenty years that I’ve been with them and it was handled promptly and efficiently. Furthermore, they have always been very nice and friendly to deal with. The problem began when I moved from Va to KY. Admittedly, the problem was mine. I notified State Farm in Va that I was moving to Ky and they helped me figure out which agent was closest to me, gave me the address, sent my file to them and all that. Shortly after I arrived the new agency sent me a welcoming letter and asked for me to stop by so they could review my policy and make any necessary changes. Well, I’ve been with State Farm for years and didn’t think I needed to make any changes so I didn’t bother with it. They sent another letter and then began leaving messages on my home phone. I was so swamped at work when I first moved here that I was working 10-12 hour days and when I wasn’t working, they weren’t open so after a few months I received the bill in the mail and it still showed my VA address. I only received it thanks to mail forwarding at the post office. I called State Farm and asked them to update my address and they informed me they couldn’t until I came in as they had been requesting. Which, I thought was very stupid at the time. Anyway, I finally did go in they informed me of some stupid law/policy (I don’t recall the reason now) that required they to review my policy with me since I was transferring from out of state. It was a pain at the time but was simple enough to take care of and from that point on, it’s back to normal. State Farm is a great insurance company and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Furthermore, Daniel Byrd was been a great agent to work with as well.
